Meta Launches Open-Source Muse Gadgets Project
Meta is expanding the ecosystem for its personal artificial intelligence agent, Muse, with the launch of an open-source project called Muse Gadgets, according to a report by TechCrunch. The initiative enables developers and hobbyists to construct custom hardware that integrates directly with the Muse platform.
As part of the project, Meta is supplying open-source firmware, a Linux software development kit, and sample project concepts. Developers can utilize low-cost hobbyist computers such as a Raspberry Pi or standard ESP32 boards to connect Muse with displays, sensors, and actuators. To assist builders, the company has established a dedicated community channel on Discord.
Meta demonstrated the framework by developing a prototype named Muse Home Link. Powered by USB-C, the device enables Muse to interface with home networks and communicate with connected appliances, smart speakers, and televisions. The company manufactured 5,000 units of the Home Link hardware to distribute to subscribers of the artificial intelligence service.
The release of the developer toolkit aligns with Meta’s broader strategy to expand the utility of its artificial intelligence technology beyond standard chat applications. Earlier in the week, the company rolled out Muse for Small Business, integrating the agent with corporate tools like Shopify, Dropbox, and Slack. Meta also established a new corporate division, the Meta Enterprise Platform, to market its artificial intelligence capabilities to commercial customers.
