Flox Intelligence Deploys AI Edge Devices to Deter Wildlife
According to TechCrunch, wildlife-deterrent startup Flox Intelligence is deploying edge AI devices designed to keep animals away from critical infrastructure such as roads, train tracks, and airports. Spun out from Sweden’s KTH Royal Institute of Technology in 2020, the company manufactures hardware that uses on-device computer vision models to identify nearby animals and emit species-appropriate sounds to deter them without causing habituation.
Flox sells upfront edge units alongside an annual software and AI subscription. The platform also offers clients regulatory reporting and biodiversity monitoring. The company has established OEM partnerships, including an agreement with train manufacturer Alstom to deploy its software on vehicles. Flox expects to finish the year with approximately $1.5 million in revenue, according to founder Sara Nozkova.
