Meta AI Agent Muse Hits No. 2 on US App Store

Meta has secured the No. 2 position on the U.S. iOS App Store charts with its newly released artificial intelligence agent, Muse, according to market intelligence figures reported by TechCrunch. Data from Sensor Tower shows the application has recorded more than 83,000 downloads on iOS within the United States market, where availability is currently restricted.

Despite climbing from the fourth position earlier in the week, Muse experienced a slower rollout compared to previous Meta product debuts. TechCrunch noted that Threads accumulated over 4.3 million U.S. downloads on its launch day, while the standard Meta AI application recorded 108,000 downloads during its debut period. OpenAI’s ChatGPT also outpaced Muse during its initial week, surpassing half a million U.S. installs.

Performance on Android has lagged behind iOS, with Muse ranking at No. 338 in the Productivity category on Google Play. Usage metrics for web access and WhatsApp integrations were not included in the initial estimates. The application represents a major strategic push by Meta into agentic AI, a sector where major technology firms are increasingly competing to deploy autonomous assistants capable of executing tasks on behalf of users.

The launch arrives alongside growing competition in the consumer agent space, including rival offerings such as Google Gemini Spark and Anthropic Claude Cowork, as well as text-based AI agent Instinct. Industry analysts continue to monitor adoption rates as Meta positions autonomous agents as a core component of its future consumer strategy.
