According to Inc42, Indian startup GalaxEye has secured a US patent for its proprietary OptoSAR satellite imaging technology. The patent protects the system which enables simultaneous all-weather, day-and-night Earth observation utilizing combined optical and synthetic aperture radar sensors.

GalaxEye previously launched Mission Drishti, described as the world’s first imaging satellite utilizing the OptoSAR technology, in May. The company plans to scale its operations by deploying a constellation of 30 satellites over the next five years. The development marks a milestone for Indian deep-tech ventures targeting international intellectual property protection in advanced geospatial intelligence infrastructure.
