US and UK Partner to Target Crypto Scam Centers
According to The Daily Hodl, the United States and the United Kingdom have formed a bilateral alliance designed to dismantle global scam centers tied to cryptocurrency fraud. Authorities from both nations are joining forces to crack down on international operations accused of defrauding citizens through digital asset schemes and cyber enabled investment fraud.
The initiative involves a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Scam Center Strike Force, the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, the Crown Prosecution Service of England and Wales, and the UK National Crime Agency. Officials noted that the framework represents the first international cooperation agreement specifically focused on disrupting scam centers involved in cryptocurrency crimes.
Industry estimates cited by authorities indicate that these transnational investment schemes cost American victims approximately $10 billion annually. Under the terms of the agreement, law enforcement agencies from both countries will conduct parallel investigations into shared targets, exchange intelligence regarding organized crime groups, and coordinate jurisdictional decisions for prosecution.
The Scam Center Strike Force was initially established by US prosecutors in November 2025 to address the rising presence of organized crime syndicates operating illicit compounds, primarily across Southeast Asia. In addition to cryptocurrency investment scams, the joint law enforcement efforts will target related money laundering operations and human trafficking networks utilized by these criminal enterprises to generate illicit profits.
